Interfaith cooperation and religious harmony initiatives highlighted in Nigeria and Australia

In Nigeria, a conference on inter-religious harmony organized by the Muslim World League and Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah emphasized that interfaith understanding and meaningful interaction are essential for building trust and peaceful coexistence. Speakers at the Abuja event, including Isa Hussain of Muslim Voice for Peace, advocated for practical engagement, such as visiting one another’s places of worship to overcome fear of the unknown.

In Australia, various Uniting Church congregations are implementing initiatives to foster intercultural connection and diversity. In the Northern Territory, worship services included prayers and songs in multiple languages, while in New South Wales, the Tamworth City Uniting Church signed a user agreement with the Mar Aphrem Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church to facilitate shared use of their building as an act of hospitality.
