Interior design trends for 2026 favor curtains over doors

A new interior design trend for 2026 involves replacing traditional doors with curtains to create lighter, more open living spaces. This approach is being applied to various areas of the home, including transitions between rooms, dressing areas, kitchens, and office nooks.

Beyond room dividers, the use of textiles is expanding to include coverings for walk-in closets, niches, and even under-counter kitchen storage using rods, rails, or hook-and-loop fasteners.
