Interior design trends shift toward warm neutrals and functional minimalism

Current interior design trends are shifting away from stark whites and cold greys toward warmer, more psychologically soothing palettes. Experts suggest that color choice significantly impacts emotional well-being and cognitive function.

Popular alternatives to pure white include cream, greige (a mix of grey and beige), and taupe, which provide depth without being overwhelming. Pale blue is also emerging as a replacement for grey, offering a sense of lightness and airiness. For kitchens, a sophisticated pinkish-beige tone—noted for its resemblance to Jessica Alba’s kitchen—is gaining popularity as a warm, earthy alternative to traditional neutrals.

In terms of functional minimalism, designers are emphasizing hidden storage and integrated cabinetry to reduce visual clutter and stress. Additionally, when selecting furniture like minimalist sofas, color becomes the primary decorative element. For maintaining light-colored upholstery, experts recommend a cleaning solution of warm water, hydrogen peroxide, and neutral soap, provided the fabric is tested first.
