Prijedor begins heating season as winter food prices rise

In Prijedor, the heating season is set to begin early due to significant temperature drops and rain. More than 3,500 users will receive heating starting Monday. The city utility company, Toplane Prijedor, has completed network repairs and filled the heating system. The city has allocated up to five million marks to ensure continuous heating throughout the season.

Meanwhile, in the Semberija region, specifically at the Winter Food Caravan in Bijeljina, producers of traditional winter preserves are facing economic challenges. Rising costs for packaging and preparation, combined with a drought that affected pepper production, have driven up prices. Items such as ajvar are being sold for up to 20 marks per jar, creating a gap between production costs and the limited purchasing power of local citizens.
