Interior designers embrace vintage “grannycore” style

Interior designers are increasingly incorporating traditional, vintage items often found in grandparents' homes into contemporary living spaces. This trend, sometimes referred to as “grannycore,” marks a shift away from minimalist, all-white aesthetics toward warmer environments filled with memory and character.

Key elements being rediscovered include hand-stitched quilts, decorated plates, crystal glassware, and floral chintz fabrics. Designers value these pieces for their “patina”—the unique wear and history found in handmade or aged materials—which offers a sustainable and authentic alternative to mass-produced, disposable furniture.
