Interlagos racetrack expands capacity and unveils Kobra mural
The Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, São Paulo, is undergoing significant infrastructure upgrades ahead of the Formula 1 Grand Prix scheduled for November 6 to 8. An investment of R$ 83.3 million is being used to expand grandstands in sectors A, D, and OTC, increasing the total seated capacity from 21,794 to 29,606 spectators.
As part of the improvements, artist Eduardo Kobra has created a 2,000 square meter mural titled “Nós Somos São Paulo” at the Laranjinha curve. The artwork honors Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna and various citizens representing different professions and generations, including a nurse, a civil guard, a street sweeper, a retiree, and a student. The mural also incorporates architectural landmarks of São Paulo, such as the Theatro Municipal and the Masp building.
