Interlaken to plant four-ton oak and close Lindenallee
On October 7, 2026, a four-ton English oak will be planted in Interlaken using a special crane. The tree, which originated in Langenthal, stands eleven meters tall and five meters wide. It is being planted along Lindenallee to replace an older, protected oak that had to be removed due to local projects.
In addition to the large oak, 25 new high-stem trees will be planted to maintain and strengthen the character of the avenue. As part of the renovation and renewal of Lindenallee, a full road closure will be in effect from October 12 to November 16, 2026, between Allmendstrasse and Freiestrasse.
Local authorities recommend that motorists use the highway for large-scale detours. While pedestrians and cyclists may pass the construction site, they will face difficult conditions.
