Intermarché data breach impacts 300,000 drive shoppers, Paris launches cybercrime probe
Intermarché, part of the Groupement Mousquetaires, suffered a cyberattack on its drive service that exposed personal information of roughly 300,000 customers out of two million users. The compromised data included names, phone numbers, postal addresses, dates of birth, loyalty‑card numbers and details of online orders. Financial data, passwords and email addresses were not affected.
The Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation for illegal access to an automated data system, assigning the case to the city’s cybercrime brigade. Intermarché reported the breach to the CNIL, filed a complaint, notified the affected customers and issued phishing‑prevention guidance. The incident follows a series of recent attacks on major French retailers.
