Intermarché recalls coffee pods across France over ochratoxin contamination

Intermarché has launched a nationwide recall of its "Pur Arabica Classic" coffee pods sold under the Planteur des Tropiques brand after testing revealed levels of the mycotoxin ochratoxin A exceeding EU limits. The affected batches include 250‑g (36 pods) sachets (lot L 603017, GTIN 3250392777081, best before 20 Sept 2027) and 375‑g (54 pods) sachets (lot L 603073, GTIN 3250391122486, best before 13 Sept 2027), which were on shelves from 18 March to 1 July 2026.

Health authorities warn that ochratoxin A is a naturally occurring toxin linked to kidney damage and potential carcinogenic effects. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled pods, check lot numbers on packaging, and return any affected products to Intermarché for a full refund. The recall is coordinated by the French consumer safety platform Rappel Conso and follows EU Regulation 2023/915 on food contaminants.
