Intermountain Health expands cancer therapy access and deploys AI MRI

Intermountain Health is expanding access to Bispecific T-cell Engager (BiTE) therapy, an immunotherapy used to treat cancer when standard treatments fail. Previously, patients were limited to specific locations in Salt Lake City and Billings, requiring frequent and long-distance travel for doses. The program has now expanded to several rural communities across Utah, Colorado, and Montana, including locations in Ogden, Provo, St. George, Wheat Ridge, and Grand Junction. This expansion is estimated to have saved patients nearly 39,000 miles of travel.

Additionally, Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, has become the first hospital in the state and only the second in the United States to deploy GE HealthCare’s SIGNA Sprint Elite MRI system. This technology utilizes artificial intelligence and deep-learning reconstruction software to improve diagnostic clarity for cardiovascular and oncological conditions. The system allows for faster scan times and enables patients to undergo imaging without the need to repeatedly hold their breath, which is particularly beneficial for cardiac patients.
