Intermountain Health expands technology and infrastructure in Utah

Intermountain Health has announced two major developments in its healthcare infrastructure and technology. The Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, has deployed the GE HealthCare SIGNA Sprint Elite MRI system. This is the second such deployment in the United States and the first in Utah. The system utilizes artificial intelligence to reduce image noise, improve clarity, and shorten scan times, which is intended to assist physicians in diagnosing cancer and heart disease.

Separately, Intermountain Health unveiled plans to construct a new Intermountain LDS Hospital in downtown Salt Lake City. The facility will be built on an eight-acre site at 745 South State Street, the former location of a Sears retail store. The decision to build a new hospital rather than modernize the existing campus in the Avenues District follows an analysis of community health needs and long-term growth projections. The new urban hospital aims to provide expanded access and modern, patient-centered care for Salt Lake County and the broader Intermountain region.
