Intermountain Health’s Downwinders Clinic Launches Utah RECA Outreach
Intermountain Health’s Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program, known as the Downwinders Clinic, is holding free public meetings across Utah to explain the recently reinstated and expanded Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). The outreach aims to inform individuals and families who were exposed to fallout from Cold War‑era nuclear testing and uranium industry activities about eligibility for compensation, provide application materials, and offer one‑on‑one review appointments.
The schedule includes meetings in St. George (July 30), Provo/Orem and Salt Lake City (August 4), Logan (August 5) and Ogden (August 7), with additional appointment slots for completed applications. The program now covers newly eligible geographic areas and expands access for downwinders throughout Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and New Mexico.
