Intermunicipal 2026 football championship groups announced

The Federação Bahiana de Futebol (FBF) has officially launched the 2026 edition of the Intermunicipal Championship, one of the world's largest non-professional football tournaments. The competition will feature 59 teams divided into 15 groups.

In the sisaleira region of Bahia, eight teams will compete: Santaluz, Valente, Conceição do Coité, Ichu, Barrocas, Biritinga, Serrinha, and Tucano. These teams are spread across Groups 1, 3, and 4. The tournament format involves home-and-away matches in the first phase, where the top three teams from most groups advance to the second stage.

The championship is scheduled to begin on August 15 with a match between Coaraci, the current champion, and Itapetinga. A total of 280 matches will be played across 18 rounds, with the final expected on December 13.
