Internacional reschedules Abel Braga statue inauguration
Internacional has rescheduled the inauguration of the Abel Braga statue at the Beira-Rio complex to September 1st. The new date coincides with the birthday of the club icon.
The monument, which was originally planned for August to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the 2006 Libertadores victory, will be located near the Fernandão monument in the stadium courtyard. Abel Braga is directly involved in the production process and has final approval over the artistic representation, which is based on a previously undisclosed photograph from 2006.
The project will not incur costs for the club, as the sponsor Allu has assumed full responsibility for the investment. The initiative gained momentum following Braga's return to coaching during the final stages of the 2025 Brazilian Championship to help ensure the club's stay in Serie A.
