Internal auditors and CIOs struggle with AI oversight

Recent studies highlight a growing gap in the governance and supervision of artificial intelligence within corporate environments. A joint study by Grant Thornton and Université Paris Dauphine-PSL reveals that while 77% of internal auditors already use AI, 71% have not yet formalized any controls over the results produced by these technologies. Additionally, 25% of these professionals are involved in developing AI agents.

Complementing this, the Global AI Confessions Report by Dataiku indicates that CIOs are facing significant challenges in managing autonomous AI agents. The report finds that 83% of CIOs lack a standardized framework for managing the AI agent lifecycle. Furthermore, only 21% of CIOs report having full, near real-time visibility into the costs generated by these agents. As organizations deploy larger fleets of autonomous systems, the ability to monitor and control their efficiency and financial impact remains a critical operational hurdle.
