International airports implement new passenger and security rules

Podgorica Airport in Montenegro has implemented new entry rules to manage high passenger volumes during the peak tourist season. As of August 11, passengers are only permitted to enter the terminal if they possess a valid boarding pass and have already commenced the check-in process. Those arriving earlier must wait outside the building.

To reduce congestion, the airport recommends that travelers arrive no more than two hours before their flight. These restrictions also apply to individuals accompanying travelers or waiting for arrivals, with exceptions made for caregivers of passengers requiring special assistance, seniors, and families with small children. The changes follow a 50 percent year-on-year increase in passengers during July.

In Thailand, new baggage security regulations will take effect on October 16. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand has approved measures allowing airport staff to open checked luggage without the owner present if security screenings reveal unidentified or suspicious items.

To ensure transparency, authorities stated that these inspections will occur in designated areas and will be recorded. Travelers are advised to keep valuables, such as jewelry and cash, in carry-on luggage and are encouraged to use TSA-standard locks to facilitate the inspection process.
