International book fairs host cultural events in Mexico and Costa Rica
Various international book fairs are hosting cultural programming in Mexico and Costa Rica. In Puebla, Mexico, during the second edition of the Feria Internacional del Libro Puebla (FILIP) 2026, chronicler Pedro Mauro Ramos Vázquez delivered a lecture titled “History of the book, libraries and the 1st Poblano Book Fair of 1948.” The presentation explored the chronological development of local bibliographic collections and the sociocultural impact of reading spaces, highlighting Puebla’s historical role in Latin American printing.
In Costa Rica, the Centro Cultural de España (CCE) is participating in the XXIV Feria Internacional del Libro de Costa Rica (FILCR 2026) from August 22 to 30. With Guatemala as the guest of honor, the CCE will host free activities at the LAB CCE and the Antigua Aduana. The program includes workshops on poetry, theater, and fanzines led by various instructors, as well as book presentations and discussions on Central American literature.
