International Christian Concern calls for global action against terrorist financing

International Christian Concern (ICC) has released a report titled ‘The Khorasan Terrorism Economy: Islamic State’s Operations Against Christians’, urging governments to dismantle the financial networks sustaining extremist movements.

The report details the financial architecture of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), highlighting its links to networks in Somalia and Yemen, as well as its use of cryptocurrency and other illicit transaction methods. ICC research indicates that extremist organizations are increasingly interconnected, sharing resources and learning from one another across borders.

Additional research by the ICC traces terrorism economies in East and Central Africa involving al-Shabab and Islamic State affiliates, as well as in Nigeria, where groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP utilize taxation, kidnapping for ransom, and commercial channels to fund operations.
