Regional security and emergency response seminars held in Balkans
Several regional conferences and training sessions focused on public safety, emergency response, and security were held across the Balkans.
In Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the third international RescueIT seminar gathered approximately 170 experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia. The event addressed modern challenges in rescue operations, including firefighting in high-rise buildings, interventions involving electric vehicles, and the use of drones in search and rescue missions.
In Sarajevo, the 20th meeting of the Western Balkans Regional Network of National Coordinators for Counter-Terrorism and Prevention of Violent Extremism took place. The meeting involved representatives from Western Balkan states, the European Commission, and the Regional Cooperation Council to exchange information on terrorism trends and regional action plans. Montenegro's delegation noted that while the country currently faces a low terrorist threat, preventive vigilance remains a priority.
In the Republika Srpska, officials held a conference on road safety in Banja Luka. Minister Zoran Stevanović and Minister Željko Budimir emphasized the need for multi-sectoral cooperation to reduce traffic fatalities, noting that nearly two million traffic violations were recorded in the first half of the year.
