International Cricket Council to revamp annual awards

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is redesigning its annual awards program to transform it into a major global event. The governing body has confirmed that the 2025 awards were intentionally withheld to allow for a complete rethink of the platform.

Instead of the previous digital-only announcements via social media, the ICC aims to create a more significant ceremony similar to major sporting honors like football’s Ballon d’Or. The next awards ceremony is scheduled to return in 2027, which will recognize the 2025 and 2026 seasons as a single combined period.

The awards include prestigious honors such as the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the Men’s Cricketer of the Year and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for the Women’s Cricketer of the Year, alongside various format-specific and emerging player accolades.
