International cuisine popularity rises in North Macedonia
In observance of World Tourism Day on September 27, data from Wolt reveals the popularity of international cuisines across several North Macedonian cities. Approximately one in five restaurant orders in Skopje, Bitola, Ohrid, and Tetovo consists of international dishes, with Turkish, Mexican, and Greek cuisines emerging as the most popular.
Regional preferences vary by city. Skopje shows the most diversity, featuring Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese, and Asian flavors such as sushi and tempura. In Bitola, Mexican cuisine is the standout choice, particularly tacos and burritos. Ohrid features a mix of Greek, Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese, and Indian dishes like Butter Chicken. Tetovo shows a strong preference for Turkish cuisine, including durum, doner, and lahmacun.
Ohrid and Tetovo report the highest proportion of international cuisine orders, indicating that interest in global flavors extends beyond the capital city.
