International Day of Peace commemorated in Goya and Alcobendas
Various communities held ceremonies to commemorate the International Day of Peace on September 21.
In Goya, Argentina, Mayor Mariano Hormaechea led the raising of the Peace Flag at the East access roundabout. The event, supported by the Mil Milenio de Paz movement, aimed to reinforce local values of non-violence and social harmony. Goya has been officially designated as a “City Committed to Peace” since 2016.
In Alcobendas, Spain, the World Peace Bell was rung at the Japanese pagoda in Arroyo de la Vega. The ceremony included students from CEIP Castilla, representatives from Japan and the Red Cross, and a minute of silence for victims of war and terrorism. Mayor Rocío García Alcántara emphasized that peace is built through small daily gestures and kindness.
