International film festivals announced in Singapore and Romania

The Singapore International Children’s Film Festival, known as Big Eyes, Big Minds, is inviting filmmakers under the age of 18 to submit their works. Eligible productions must have been completed from 2025 onwards and must be in English or include English subtitles. The festival, scheduled to take place in Singapore from May 20 to June 20, 2027, will feature categories such as best animation, best fiction, best documentary, and best film for children under five. The submission deadline is September 30, 2026.

In Romania, the 23rd edition of the SIMFEST International Film and Television Festival will be held in Târgu Mureș from September 28 to October 4, 2026. Out of 215 entries from 25 countries, 45 productions have been selected for the official competition. This year’s program includes Italian Film Days in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute and a dedicated section for Romanian films. The festival will also feature a screening of ‘Campioana’, directed by Elisabeta Bostan, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Nadia Comăneci’s perfect Olympic score.
