International film festivals FUNCINEMA and Sitges announce new programming

The 12th FUNCINEMA International Comedy Film Festival has announced its second wave of programming, featuring 79 international short and feature films. Combined with previously announced national productions, the festival will showcase a total of 102 works in Mar del Plata from September 29 to October 4. Screenings will take place at the Museo MAR, Sala Nachman, and El Galpón de las Artes. The opening film will be the American production ‘Edie Arnold is a loser’. The lineup includes diverse international entries from the United States, Spain, Brazil, Australia, and Portugal.

Meanwhile, the 59th Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is advancing its programming for the upcoming edition held from October 8 to 18. The festival has revealed new titles for its Panorama, Midnight X-treme, and Brigadoon sections. Additionally, actress Bárbara Rey has been named the recipient of the Nosferatu Award in recognition of her career in Spanish fantastic cinema, noting her work in films such as ‘El buque maldito’ and ‘La noche de los brujos’.
