International film festivals held in Edinburgh and Bueu

The 79th Edinburgh International Film Festival took place from August 13 to 19, featuring ten world-premiere feature films competing for a £50,000 prize and ten short films vying for £15,000. The festival opened with ‘The Incomer’, written and directed by Louis Paxton and starring Domhnall Gleeson, Gayle Rankin, and Grant O’Rourke. The event also included a 30th-anniversary celebration of the film ‘Trainspotting’.

Separately, the Festival Internacional de Cinema de Bueu (FICBueu) has announced its Official Section, scheduled for September 7 to 12. The program will showcase 28 short films from 18 different countries, including Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, and Australia. The screenings will be held at the Centro Social do Mar, featuring various international co-productions.
