International Labour Conference adopts historic platform‑workers convention

The International Labour Organization’s 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva brought together roughly 5,000 delegates from 187 countries. Delegates adopted the first-ever global convention aimed at protecting workers in the platform economy. The agreement secures rights such as freedom of association, protection against discrimination, safe and healthy working conditions, minimum remuneration and transparent algorithmic management.

Brazil’s Secretary of Labour, Vladyson Viana, attended the conference on behalf of Brazil and the National Forum of Labour Secretaries, emphasizing the event’s relevance for Brazilian and Ceará labour policy. The new rules are expected to guide national legislation and corporate practices for ride‑hailing and delivery services worldwide.
