International Literacy Day marked by cultural events in Sarajevo and Nikšić

International Literacy Day was observed through various cultural and educational programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

In Sarajevo, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport organized the ‘Šetnica kulture’ event titled ‘From Letter to Poem’. Federal Minister of Culture and Sport Sanja Vlaisavljević emphasized that literacy and education are essential tools for self-expression and personal identity, noting that knowledge is an asset that cannot be taken away. The event included students from the Second Gymnasium in Sarajevo and the Gymnasium from Visoki, featuring performances by actors and artists.

In Nikšić, the Njegoš Library hosted students from the Secondary School of Economics and Catering and the Stojan Cerović Gymnasium. The activities focused on the history of the library, the importance of reading for critical thinking, and vocabulary enrichment. During the visit, several students became new members of the library, aiming to foster long-term reading habits and engagement with literature.
