International Necmettin Erbakan and Turkish Foreign Policy Congress begins in Konya

The International Necmettin Erbakan and Turkish Foreign Policy Congress has commenced at the Necmettin Erbakan University (NEÜ) Ahmet Keleşoğlu Library in Konya. Hosted by the NEÜ Rectorate and supported by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the event commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan.

During the opening ceremony, NEÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu described Erbakan as a milestone in Turkish political history. Zorlu stated that Erbakan constructed a political language based on tradition and core values in opposition to rootless secularization. He noted that Erbakan’s projects and industrialization efforts aimed to transform Turkey from a passive observer into an active global actor while fostering cooperation within the Islamic world.

Esenler Mayor Mehmet Tevfik Göksu also spoke at the event, characterizing Erbakan as a visionary leader whose foresight regarding advanced technology and defense visions preceded the modern era of computing and software.
