International Olympic Academy sues Greek Ministry of Education

The International Olympic Academy (IOA) has filed a lawsuit against the Greek Ministry of Education, Religion, and Sports, seeking 300,000 euros in unpaid expenses.

The dispute concerns costs incurred during the 2025 implementation of the 'Living Olympic Values' educational program. According to the IOA, the ministry has failed to settle the debt despite multiple attempts at an out-of-court settlement and an unanswered formal notice. The IOA notes that the payment is now ten months overdue since the program's conclusion.

The 'Living Olympic Values' initiative is a ministry-led program designed to introduce secondary school students to Olympic principles through educational activities and stays in Ancient Olympia. The IOA and the Ministry entered into a five-year cooperation memorandum on February 6, 2024. While the program successfully hosted approximately 2,000 students, the IOA claims that only 200,000 euros of the expected 500,000 euros in funding has been provided.
