International Para Hockey Cup held in Nymburk
The International Para Hockey Cup is being held in Nymburk, Czech Republic, serving as a critical preparation event for the upcoming World Para Hockey Championships in Ostrava next May. The tournament, which runs through October 24, marks the first major competitive action for the Czech national team since the Paralympic Games in Milan.
Czech captain Radek Zelinka noted that the team is in high spirits following a long break and summer training camps. The squad faces significant competition, including matches against the World Select team, the United States, and Canada. Coach Jakub Novotný emphasized that the focus remains on high-intensity training and physical preparation rather than just results, as the team aims to build stamina for the championship in Ostrava.
This event also marks the first international hockey tournament held at the newly reconstructed stadium in Nymburk. Jiří Šindler, chairman of Czech Para Hockey, highlighted the significance of the venue, noting its history with the 2019 World Championships.
