International Pet Day marks celebration of domesticated animals

October 25 marks International Pet Day, a tradition observed since 1931 to recognize the significance of domesticated animals in human lives. The day serves as an opportunity for owners to show appreciation for their companions, whether they are dogs, cats, rodents, or fish.

Celebrities often highlight unique pet ownership during such observances. For instance, Arnold Schwarzenegger has cared for miniature goats and a pig, while Nicolas Cage famously owned a rare two-headed snake named Harvey. Actress Salma Hayek previously shared her home with an owl named Kering. Other stars, such as Drew Barrymore and Mariah Carey, focus on providing homes for shelter animals or treating their dogs like VIPs.
