International policy conferences address intellectual property and Asia-Pacific relations

A series of international policy events and academic programs are addressing critical issues in intellectual property and regional security.

The 9th Annual IP Data and Research Conference, sponsored by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is being held from October 26–28.

Other scheduled discussions include comparative perspectives on China from Taiwan and Washington, as well as an evaluation of shipbuilding cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

In the United Kingdom, the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM) at Bournemouth University hosted the third annual WIPO-UK Summer School on Intellectual Property. The program included 73 delegates from 46 countries and featured 24 experts discussing the application of IP law to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and deepfakes.
