International Rural Women's Day commemorations held in Chad and Burkina Faso

Preparations are underway in Chad for the 2026 edition of the International Day of Rural Women (IDRW), scheduled to take place from October 15 to 20 in Kyabé, Moyen-Chari. A prospecting mission led by Manibe Ngaringaye, National President of the Organizing Committee, has begun meeting with local authorities to coordinate logistics, including participant accommodation, site selection for the IDRW Village, and the identification of local trainers.

In Burkina Faso, the Minister of Family and Solidarity, Lieutenant-Colonel Passowendé Pélagie Kabré, presided over a delayed commemoration of the 29th IDRW in Oula, Yatenga province. To support economic empowerment and food sovereignty, the government distributed production equipment valued at 16 million CFA francs to 14 women's groups in the Yaadga region. The donation included motor cultivators, water pumps, a tractor, tricycles, and post-harvest processing kits for potatoes.
