International Space Station undergoes crew rotation and command change
The International Space Station has undergone a leadership transition and crew rotation. Roscosmos cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov officially assumed command of the station from NASA astronaut Jessica Meir during a ceremony on October 4.
Following the command change, four members of the SpaceX Crew-12 mission—NASA astronauts Jack Hathaway and Jessica Meir, Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, and European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot—returned to Earth. Their SpaceX Dragon capsule splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Los Angeles on October 8 after a 237-day mission.
The departure of the Crew-12 members leaves seven residents currently aboard the station for Expedition 75. The remaining crew includes Joshua Kutryk (CSA), Jessica Watkins (NASA), Luke Delaney (NASA), Sergey Teteryatnikov (Roscosmos), and Anna Kikina (Roscosmos), alongside Dubrov and Anil Menon (NASA).
