International street theater festival and new stage productions announced
The 23rd Zacatecas International Street Theater Festival is scheduled to take place from October 9 to 17. The event will feature nine local companies from Zacatecas, four national groups, and six international troupes. Performances will utilize the city's historic buildings, plazas, and streets as natural stages. Highlights include the world premiere of ‘Bad Luck’ by Mar Gómez and the closing performance of ‘Avenir’ by Close-Act Theatre.
In Valencia, Teatro Círculo is presenting ‘Kodokushi’ from October 8 to 18. Written and directed by Nacho Sánchez Ortiz, the dialogue-free piece explores the Japanese concept of ‘lonely death’—situations where individuals die alone and remain undiscovered for long periods. The production uses movement, space, and imagery to address themes of social isolation, aging populations, and the fragility of human connections.
