Turkish municipalities launch social welfare and education support programs
Various Turkish municipalities and local organizations are implementing social welfare programs targeting education, agriculture, and community health.
In Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality has launched a program to support seasonal agricultural workers and their families. The initiative includes health screenings, cleaning and pest control in living areas, and social activities for children in districts like İnegöl. This program aims to address the needs of over 20,000 seasonal workers who arrive annually for harvest.
In Kayseri, the Metropolitan Municipality has completed the application process for its 2026-2027 education support program. A total of 14,320 applications were received for the 5,000 TL stationery and nutrition aid intended for primary, middle, and high school students from low-income families.
Other regional initiatives include Antalya’s ‘Halk Süt’ project, which provides free milk to children aged 2-5 in needy households, and Ceyhan Municipality’s 10,000 TL education support for first-time university students. Additionally, Konya is promoting its bicycle culture through a new podcast series, and Mersin is offering free water sports training to citizens.
