International Swimming League announces return with London event
The International Swimming League (ISL) has announced its return with an ‘All Star’ event scheduled for December 19 at the London Aquatics Centre. This event serves as a prelude to the league's relaunch, which has been on hiatus since 2021.
The league, originally founded in 2019 by Konstantin Grigorishin, faced significant financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of the war in Ukraine on its founder's funds. Under the direction of commissioner Ben Allen, the ISL aims to implement a revised commercial model that relies more on sponsorships and media partnerships rather than a single investor.
The upcoming London event is expected to feature a record prize pool and some of the world's top swimmers, though specific athlete names have not yet been confirmed. The ISL previously hosted elite competitors such as Caeleb Dressel, Adam Peaty, and Katinka Hosszu.
