International theater productions debut in Buenos Aires
The Spanish theatre company La Zaranda opened its new production “Todos los ángeles alzaron el vuelo” at the Teatro Regio in Buenos Aires, running from 12 to 30 August. The play, written by Eusebio Calonge and directed by Paco de La Zaranda, is a black‑humor ode to hope that honors the late actress Laura Gómez‑Lacueva.
At the same time, the Hungarian troupe Teatre presented the tragicomic drama “David” by Paco Zarzoso at the Sala Cunill Cabanellas of the Teatro San Martín from 13 to 23 August. The production, originally staged in Valencia in 2024, explores a father‑son relationship disrupted by a mysterious figure named David. Both shows are supported by the Spanish government and local cultural institutions.
These premieres highlight Buenos Aires’ role as a hub for international theatrical works, bringing diverse European productions to Argentine audiences.
