International volunteers aid children with developmental challenges in Split
Volunteers from around the world are spending weeks to months in Split, Croatia, to support children with developmental difficulties through the local Dyxy Association. The volunteers arrive via global platforms ImpactTrip (Portugal) and IVHQ (New Zealand) and come from countries such as Portugal, Germany, China, New Zealand, Mexico, the United States, Japan, Norway and Italy.
While in Split, the volunteers work with the children in English, conducting activities like crafts, origami, dream‑catcher making and cultural presentations. At the end of their stay each group gives a short presentation about their home country, sharing cultural highlights with the children. The program is described by Dyxy as fostering solidarity, empathy and learning for both the volunteers and the children they assist.
