International wind band festivals held in Luxembourg and Germany

The 15th DIFFWINDS Festival took place in Differdange, Luxembourg, from July 4 to 6, 2025. The event featured international wind orchestras from Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, and the USA, performing at various locations including the Place du Marché and the École Internationale EIDE.

Special recognition was given to three groups during a trophy ceremony: The Sistertowns Youth Band, a collaborative project between Germany’s Jugendkapelle Penzberg and Luxembourg’s Harmonie Prince Guillaume Differdange; Harmonie Sempach from Switzerland; and the Tótkomlós Concert Wind Orchestra from Hungary.

In Flieden, Germany, the 11th Festival der Spielleute was held at the Kreissporthalle on October 24. Organized by the Spielmanns- und Fanfarenzug (SFZ) Flieden-Rückers, the sold-out event featured nine bands, including regional groups from Fulda, Darmstadt-Dieburg, and Gießen. International participants included the Trachtenkapelle Irschen from Austria and the MVB Maastricht marching band from the Netherlands, who performed an ‘H2O’ show.
