Internet Computer overtakes Solana in weekly transaction throughput

The Internet Computer (ICP) blockchain has surpassed Solana (SOL) in real-time transaction throughput over the past week. According to data from Chainspect, the Internet Computer network averaged approximately 2,323 transactions per second (TPS), while Solana averaged 1,896 TPS during the same period.

On its busiest day of the quarter, Internet Computer recorded 256.5 million transactions in a single day, reaching a peak of 2,969 TPS. This performance follows several weeks where Solana held the top spot on scalability dashboards. While the network also saw a rebound in daily active addresses—rising from roughly 2,800 to an average of 3,500—the increase in transaction volume has not yet translated into significant price appreciation for the ICP token, which has faced selling pressure.

Analysts note that TPS is only one metric for comparing networks and does not account for decentralization, network costs, or total value transferred. For context, Chainspect lists the theoretical maximum throughput for Internet Computer at 209,708 TPS, compared to 65,000 TPS for Solana.
