Internet connectivity issues reported in Algeria and French Polynesia

Internet service providers in Algeria and French Polynesia have recently faced challenges regarding international connectivity and network stability.

In Algeria, Algérie Télécom reported potential disruptions to international links on October 11, 2026, due to maintenance on an IP Transit node. The operator initially warned of possible service issues, but later confirmed that the intervention was completed without any drop in speed or connection quality, maintaining fluid international traffic.

In French Polynesia, the operator Onati (Vini) has faced criticism over connection instabilities linked to damage to the Manatua cable and reliance on the Honotua cable. Infrastructure experts noted that because international traffic must travel through Hawaii to reach Los Angeles, local connectivity is vulnerable to external factors in the United States, such as hurricanes, fires, or damage to subsea cables between Hawaiian islands.
