Smartphone payment users prioritize convenience despite high security concerns

A survey conducted by Site Creation Co., Ltd. regarding smartphone payment usage reveals a tension between convenience and security concerns. Among 100 respondents, 57% cited unauthorized use as their primary concern, followed by smartphone loss at 47% and personal information leaks at 43%. Other anxieties included account hijacking and service outages, both at 40%.

Despite these security fears, 73.9% of current users continue to use mobile payments due to their ease and convenience. Other driving factors for usage include earning reward points (69.3%) and the ability to travel without carrying cash (61.4%). The study suggests that while convenience drives adoption, addressing security and availability remains critical for users.
