Interpol and Brazilian Police search for missing siblings after Florida trafficking rescue

The Brazilian Federal Police and Interpol are investigating the disappearance of siblings Ágatha Isabelly, 6, and Allan Michael, 4, who vanished on January 4, 2026, from a quilombola community in Bacabal, Maranhão. The investigation gained renewed momentum following a major human trafficking operation in Florida, USA, known as Operation Statewide Shield, which rescued 163 children and adolescents.

Clarice Cardoso, the children's mother, reported a physical resemblance between one of the rescued children in Florida and her son, Allan Michael. In response, she provided genetic material to the Federal Police in São Luís to facilitate DNA comparisons with the rescued group. While the family maintains hope, the Federal Police have stated that, according to U.S. authorities, no Brazilian children were identified among the 163 rescued individuals in the Florida operation.

The Federal Police are proceeding with a request to include the siblings in Interpol’s Yellow Notice to assist in their international search and potential repatriation if they are located outside of Brazil.
