Interpol hosts international drug crime conference in Prague

Interpol is hosting a three-day international conference in Prague focused on combating global drug trafficking. The event brings together approximately 250 delegates from 106 countries and nine organizations, including Europol and Cepol.

Police President Martin Vondrášek and National Drug Headquarters Director Jakub Frydrych highlighted the necessity of international cooperation, noting that drug crime is inherently transborder and global. Frydrych shared recent successes from Czech operations, such as 'Operation Krone,' which intercepted tons of cocaine and hashish intended for European distribution, and 'Operation Korund.'

Czech Interior Minister Lubomír Metnar emphasized the rapid evolution of the drug market, particularly regarding synthetic and psychoactive substances. He noted that manufacturers frequently alter chemical compositions and distribution methods to exploit differences in national regulations, requiring a unified and rapid response from law enforcement agencies.
