Interpol releases eighth studio album ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’

New York rock band Interpol has released their eighth studio album, ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’. The project marks a revitalizing period for the group, characterized by what frontman Paul Banks describes as ‘unexpected alchemy’.

The album features new collaborators, including producer Andrew Wyatt and bassist Brad Truax. The recording process involved the band members reuniting in the West Village to improvise and compose during the spring of 2024.

Much of the creative inspiration for the new material stemmed from the band's connection to Mexico. Guitarist Daniel Kessler noted that song ideas, such as the piano-driven track ‘Iron City’, took shape while in Mexico City, a location where the band has maintained a significant following.
