Interpol releases list of eight wanted Slovak nationals
Interpol’s public database now includes eight Slovak citizens wanted for serious offences. The most prominent figures are Robert Okoličány, a life‑sentenced leader of an eastern Slovak crime group, and Karol Mello, charged in connection with a 2004 shooting in Most near Bratislava that killed a woman and her child. Other listed individuals are Marek Danihel, Eric Nuhanović, Marián Štajgar, Štefan Hegedüš and Alen Velović, each sought for crimes ranging from murder to organized‑crime activities.
All eight have an Interpol Red Notice – a request circulated worldwide for law‑enforcement agencies to locate, detain and extradite the suspects. The Red Notice system does not grant arrest powers itself but alerts member states to the international warrants. The database also shows foreign nationals, such as Czech citizen Eva Zámečníková, for whom Slovak authorities have issued a warrant.
Interpol, founded in 1923 and headquartered in Lyon, coordinates police cooperation across its 190‑plus member nations, assisting in the pursuit of organized crime, terrorism, human trafficking and related offences.
