Interpol releases new album ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’
The New York band Interpol has released their first studio album in four years, titled ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’. Marking their debut with Partisan Records, the project was produced by Andrew Wyatt and mixed by David Fridmann.
Recorded in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, this is the first time in over a decade that the band has recorded in their home city. The album features expanded arrangements including strings and woodwinds, aiming to provide a renewed sense of focus and depth. The title track features backing vocals from Juliet Seger-Banks.
During a recent US tour stop in San Diego, skate legend Tony Hawk introduced the band on stage, noting his long-standing connection to the group dating back to their 2002 debut. Critics have noted the album represents a strong creative resurgence for the quartet, with some describing the work as a ‘masterpiece’.
