Interpol removes international arrest warrant for Vladimir Cerrón
Interpol has officially notified the Peruvian Judiciary that the international arrest warrant for Vladimir Cerrón, founder of the Perú Libre party, has been removed from its database.
The decision follows a ruling by Peru's Constitutional Court, which annulled Cerrón's preventive detention on the grounds that it lacked proper motivation and was no longer objectively justified due to changing circumstances.
Cerrón is under investigation for alleged criminal organization and money laundering related to the illegal financing of his political party's electoral campaigns between 2008 and 2021. Following the Interpol notification, Judge Leodan Cristóbal Ayala ordered that the information be shared with all involved legal parties, including the National Prosecutor's Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office, to update his legal status within the ongoing criminal proceedings.
