Interpol releases eighth studio album ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’

New York-based band Interpol has released their eighth studio album, ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’, via Partisan Records. Marking their first release with the label and their first recording session in New York City in over a decade, the album represents an evolution of their signature post-punk sound.

Produced by Andrew Wyatt and mixed by David Fridmann, the record incorporates new sonic textures including synthesizers, strings, brass, and acoustic guitars. Critics note that while the band maintains its characteristic atmospheric tension and rhythmic DNA, tracks like the title song explore influences such as trip-hop and dream pop.

The album features contributions from long-time touring members Brandon Curtis and Brad Truax, who are now recognized as official members. The release follows a four-year hiatus since their 2022 album, ‘The Other Side of Make-Believe’.
